Kilimanjaro Wild Adventures offers a number of different options for climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro consistent with each of the standard tourist and experienced climbing routes up the mountain.  While each of the routes is safe, different routes present different challenges.  We will work with you to help determine the route that's right for you. In each case, keep in mind the following:

Altitude Acclimation:

The general rule for climbing Kilimanjaro is to go slowly so your body can acclimate to the thin air at high altitudes.  If you go too quickly and you are not used to the changes, you risk altitude sickness.  The Machame and Lemosho Routes are the most popular for tourists because they offer slower acclimation as the heights get more challenging.

Varying Terrain and Climates.

It goes without saying that Mt. Kilimanjaro is an incredibly large, free standing mountain.  However, it is difficult to understand the scale of this great treasure until you are on the mountain.  There are peaks and valleys, rain forests and incredible views.  Different routes involve different challenges.  The Marangu Route is the shortest route, but it involves a steeper climb and less opportunity to acclimate to the altitude

Guides, Cooks, and Porters

The opportunity to summit on Mt. Kilimanjaro is available to anyone who is in reasonably good physical shape, takes the appropriate route for their experience and training, and has the fortitude to push through in the more difficult final climb.  But no one should climb Kilimanjaro alone.  No matter which route you choose, and no matter how large or small your climbing party is, you will climb with a team of guides, cooks and porters.  The porters will carry most of your equipment and food, the cooks will fix your meals, and the guides will lead you along your route, set up camp for each evening, and make sure you are comfortable and safe.
